Ladies and Gentlemen... the moment you've all been waiting for... the True Route!!!

That's right! We've seen Some Shit over the course of these past few days, but now it all finally pulls together. Enough solving other people's shit. It's time for Aoba to finally solve his own shit!! What's the deal with Sly Blue? Why does Aoba have such weirdly sensitive hair, and why can he control people with his voice? What's the deal with Toue? Who is that guy that keeps flashing on all the monitors before Oval Tower collapses and why does Oval Tower suddenly collapse??

All these answers and more await us in the true route, so... let us begin



Initial Thoughts/Previous Memories
By the time I'd gotten to Ren's Route (aka the True Route), I had dragged myself through so many hours of this game that I was just... so tired. By the time Mink's route rolled around, my brain had already fried, so I didn't retain much of those last two routes at all.

Let's drop a few major items that I do remember (either from playing or just having seen it repeated elsewhere so often).

1. Who is Sly Blue? Well... he's Aoba. We already know that. But did you know that when Aoba's consciousness fractured, Sly Blue wasn't the only piece that broke off? In fact, that other piece didn't even remain in Aoba's head. It became.... Ren!
   
   
2. Aoba has a twin brother and they were born attached by their hair and pure white for some reason (hence Aoba's sensitive hair). That twin is Sei, and while Aoba was smuggled away & raised by Tae-san and his parents, Sei remained with Toue. He's the one who appears on the monitors and is responsible for Oval Tower's collapse
   
   
3. This route has two bad endings: The first of which has to do with Virus and Trip. "Who and who??" Yeah, I didn't rly mention them before.
   
   They appear briefly throughout the common route, but don't gain any relevance until the true ending. In this bad ending, Aoba is taken hostage by them and raped by their All Mates. (what is with this game honestly,,,,). In the second bad ending, Ren just fucking... eats Aoba??? dfgHJKL
   
   
4. Finally, in the good ending the True Ending to this game apparently, Sei dies and Ren's consciousness disappears, leaving just an empty-headed fluffy blue pomeranian all-mate barking in his place. Then wOAH!! He's been found???? Sei's body is in the hospital and Aoba goes to see him buT IT'S NOT SEI??? It's rEN!!! And for some reason he's buff even tho Sei is like even more of a twink than Aoba is. And Aoba's like omfg Ren its u ilu so much oh my god and then they fuck probably. Reminder, this is Ren (A piece of Aoba's consciousness) in Sei's (his twin brother) body... I told you it was fucked up for reasons you wouldn't suspect.

Playthrough Thoughts

Ooh there's a couple additions to the common route once you unlock the true route. Like a Rhyme match with Toue after Aoba failed to save Mizuki??? I totally forgot about his o:


Well that's fuckin creepy!!! I think Aoba like... had a premonition of being eaten by Ren???? Idk like it was completely dark and he couldn't see or move or anything, and at one point he mentions he can feel his arm, but below the elbow, there's nothing. It was apparently bitten off and he feels something hungrily licking his arm??? Idfk I remember literally none of this omg

Oooh shit. So just like in Noiz's route, Aoba gets pulled into a Rhyme match and Ren gets infected by a worm (or virus??) only this time, Noiz isn't here to recognize it and remove it. Yiiiikes.....

Aoba had the dream again, and I wonder if Ren is having the same dreams from the opposite POV?? That would explain why he's suddenly pushing Aoba away and acting all weird. Hmm...

Ooh weird... it seems the commemorative event goes through in Ren's route... in the other routes, the tower blew up the night before it happened...... ?????? Does this have to do with Sei meeting Aoba in the alleyway earlier? Hmm...

It's kinda funny how in all the other routes, Ren p much exists to go "I know right?" to everything Aoba says, but in his route he's like "Aoba, did u know ur wrong sometimes??? ooOOOOOH SLY BLUE IS COMMUNICATING WITH AOBA! Like yea he's talked to him before, but only to say stuff like "destroy. destroy. destroy him. it's over for you" yada yada blah blah blah but now he's like. actually saying stuff for real oh shit!!!

Oh no,,,,, Ren's not turning on ;;;;;;

I wonder if maybe actually instead of Aoba dreaming of Ren eating him, he's actually dreaming of how Sly Blue feels? Maybe something about the medicine Aoba takes to suppress his power & headaches eats away at Sly Blue... His last dream took place when Sly Blue took control & the dream ended in Aoba getting the overwhelming urge to destroy everything, so I wonder if Sly Blue is mostly Like That bc he's been suppressed for so long it's caused him to snap and lash out and want to destroy everything in his path? Hmm hMM...

vIRUS AND TRIP ARE MORPHINE????? I knew they were like evil but holy fuck???? For like some background, Morphine is like this ~mystic~ Rib team that like no one's seen or whatever, but they end up kidnapping a brain washing Mizuki and his team. They also kidnapped Aoba's grandma which rly set everything in motion sO LIKE. YOU CAN SEE THE SHOCK HERE AT THAT SUDDEN LINK BACK. Like oh fuck morphine's here-OH FUCK VIRUS AND TRIP!?!?!?!

Ahh.... so Aoba and Sei were basically genetically engineered by Toue using Tae-san's research. Like... they're human and they were born like people, but their dna was messed with prior to their birth. GMB... Genetically Modified Babies... They both died after birth, but when their hair (which connected them) was severed, Sei revitalized while Aoba didn't. Tae-san (Aoba's grandmother) took him away, presumably to give him a funeral, but he ended up coming back to life after she had taken him

Okay so first off, Virius & Trip's bad ending was fucking awful so jot that down. God I like literally can't wipe the disgust off my face dfghjk Also I heard wrong. See, I never played this ending before, but I was told Aoba's fucked by Virus & Trip's all mates. That was wrong. Altho the fucking snake all mate does suck his dick which was all kinds of fucking awful. But yeah summary of it is Virus and Trip kidnap Aoba and have kept him for the past 6 months just fucking with him (and fucking him) for the fun of it. God tho I feel like I need to rewatch Clear's route immediately to cleanse my mind of this. Clear, sing me ur Jellyfish song pls I need something the combat the awfulness of seeing all that fucking nonsense. god

K...koujaku..... everyone... they came to help Aoba ;;;;;; <33333 Their voices alone (barring Mink's. Fuck that guy) cleansed my soul. I'm good again.


goD especially Koujaku,,, like. Okay. After all the shit Aoba's been through right now, Koujaku is like,,, the safest most trustworthy person out of like everyone (besides Tae San ofc). He's Aoba's childhood friend. He cares about Aoba a LOT. He's protected Aoba so many times??? So seeing him now it just feels like... "I'm saved."

Aoba ends up in RHyme aGAIN... and his fucking opponent.... is rEN DFGHJKgJKN It's so fucking funny to bc it pans over and there's snarling lil pomeranian Ren like. Bruh. It's not even like cool humanoid virtual Ren. It's just this. tiny fuckin pissed off dog and Im losing it oh my god.

Oh that's heckin sad.... when Aoba tries to use scrap to save Ren, a bunch of pop ups appear asking questions about Ren. Getting them wrong will land you a bad ending... and it involves things like not knowing what Ren looks like... to saying things like Ren isn't supportive. THen a bunch more pop ups appear saying things like "Aoba doesn't care about me" and "Aoba hates me" and a bunch of stuff about how much Ren cares about Aoba ;; oh that's saaaad ;;;;;

Oh whoops so my original hypothesis was correct in that Aoba was having premonitions of Ren eating him. Idk if Ren shared those dreams, but that's not what caused him to act out. Apparently when he split off from Aoba's mind and became Ren the All Mate, he forgot his past and who he was. When he was infected by the worm, he suddenly remembered, and that's what caused him to act so weird.


So Aoba's not the only one whose mind is all split up. Also, Sei has the power of creation while Aoba's is destruction. I wonder if originally they were meant to balance each other out, but having been separated, their minds fractured in an attempt to establish some balance. ((We know Aoba's 2 other personalities are 1. Sly Blue who controls Scrap and is constantly trying to take over and destroy everything & 2. Ren who was created to sort of keep Aoba from losing control and being taken over by Sly Blue.


Sei and Aoba based on what they looked like as infants and Sei's idea of what they'd then look like if they hadn't changed & developed pigment. Technically that's the "other Aoba," or as I've been calling him, Sly Blue (That's Aoba's Rhyme name, and he seemed to more in tune with said "other Aoba" at the time).


So, Sei and Toue are dead and Oval Tower has collapsed.

Final verdict: Had to get some rest before I finished this up, but there it is! The end of DMMd! If I was to rank all the routes based not on the characters themselves, but the quality of the story, I'd say it's be: Clear, Ren, [Mink, Koujaku, Noiz].

• Clear's is without a doubt the best both in terms of a likeable romantic interest and just... well everything! It's a really well written route imo and the music and cgi's are really well done.
  
• Ren's route was definitely interesting! It's placing might be a little skewed in how happy I was to get a lot of answers to a lot of the questions raised throughout the story. One thing that eternally bothers me tho is that one of the ending triggering Q&As was "Ren Doesn't Bark" for which the correct answer was "Yes." But. As you may remember, I specifically screenshotted a scene in Koujaku's route where Ren barks! He doesn't bark often, but it's not like Beni and Tori are shown to tweet/squack either. Anyway, back to the Point, this route was definitely engaging and it really keeps you at the edge of your seat the whole time. Also every scene with Sei threatens to straight up rip my heart out so A+ in being emotionally compelling lmao

I have mixed feelings about Mink, Koujaku, and Noiz's routes.

• Mink Fuck that guy & fuck a grand majority of his route, but man they fuckin pulled out the stops on his good ending. "Mink is... not bad actually???" they said, and it was almost halfway compelling!!!! But the Mink they introduced was just so fucking shitty that I don't even want to see him redeemed. It wasn't even really redemption because it's not like he had some big character development that turned things around and changed who he was as a person. Literally all Aoba did was give him the will to live. But they never rly owned up to the fact that Mink was shitty and needed change. They just went "he might rape and abuse people but he's actually a good person deep down c: Look! He didn't want Aoba to die! And he had a tragic backstory so you should excuse all his past behavior (that he's not guaranteed to not repeat????)." Like fuck that.
  
  Mink's route could've actually been a lot better if they hadn't made him quite so fucking shitty in the first place. He could've been rough and seemingly uncaring (only to reveal awww he's been secretly caring about everyone under him this whole time!!) without the straight up fucking abuse shit they pulled. Even if they'd kept that but gone a LOT harder in the ending to redeem him, it could've been salvageable.
  
• Koujaku himself is like... a pack of mixed feelings in and of himself. Like man he's so sweet and protective and caring....... and then really fuckin creepy. sdfghj Okay he's not that bad, but he was constantly throwing me off with his randomly interspersed creepiness. As for the actual story? Meh. It was okay, but not great imo. The flashbacks to Koujaku & Aoba's relationship when they were younger were rly nice, but overall especially when it was focused on Koujaku, the plot/story just wasn't that noteable.
  
• Noiz... speaking of noteable, Noiz's route was noteably BAD in terms of writing. God, it just felt so rushed and just... not well executed. On top of that, Noiz's route made the absolute least sense. I still have no answer as to how Aoba could've possibly given Noiz the ability to feel. Noiz's apparent ~character growth~ went down in unbelievable time ("Wow, I just got the ability to feel. I suddenly completely understand other people!!!!"). And as I've said multiple times, his good ending is just so shitty. I really like Noiz, and I feel like he's a good character who was just done so wrong... :/
