Fandom: Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse
Note: Really short one today. I didn't even make the full 10 minutes because I couldn't stop thinking too much to really write the whole time fghjk I watched Spiderverse again today and ended up watching a bunch of analysis/backstory vids so my mind is just dead set on it dfghj To curb any misunderstandings, this is intended as completely Gen.
His name is Peter B. Parker, and he isn’t her Peter, but that doesn’t stop the painful thud in her chest when she first sees him. All at once, it’s like she’s seeing her best friend again, even when the differences between them are so stark. He’s taller, older, and a fair amount wider, but every time he passes the corner of her eye, it’s like she sees the Peter she knew, and it’s all she can do to not turn and reach for him.
Her first night after meeting him, she has nightmares she hasn’t had in years. The pain is as raw as it was then, and when she wakes gasping with tears streaming down her cheeks, she almost cannot comprehend the world around her. Miles doesn’t make things any easier. With his gentle charisma, she keeps finding herself wanting to care for someone again, wanting to trust someone again, and the reminder of that feeling just makes Peter more and more prominent in her mind. She’s been able to bypass missing him by not thinking about him, by closing off the part of her that cared in the first place. It’s like he’s slowly cutting open an old wound with his kindness and promising heal it properly. But she can’t trust that he won’t leave and dig deeper and more painfully.
Peter B. and Miles dug themselves under her skin and without realizing how it got this way, she suddenly found herself not wanting to lose them.
