[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What is the most expensive thing you have ever broken?

My answer: I once stood up while my laptop was still in my lap. The lap desk thing I was using with it hit the screen and shattered it c,: It still works with an external monitor, but like.... that's a really cumbersome setup lol

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: Would you eat food past its expiration date if it looked and smelled fine?

My answer: Expiration dates are an unregulated scam... but I'm a coward, so if I'm not sure, I'd sooner toss it ;u;" (Problem is I'm very often unsure about many things)

P Much Yea

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: Do you use any outdated slang on a regular basis? How up to date are you on today’s slang?

My answer: my entire vocab is just an amalgamation of slang I've picked up from the internet tbh,,, Which is probably... not good?? I know it makes it more difficult to communicate w/ ppl outside of my circle. It's just difficult to drop it when it feels like the only way to inject personality and emotion into a text conversation. Of course that's thrown off when people don't understand your quirks to mean the same thing you mean them to... It's very weird.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: When was the last time you got to tell someone “I told you so”? Was it a petty thing or something more serious?

My answer: "I told y'all it was a good movie." - me @ my family after we watched Into the Spiderverse today. Seriously, that movie is just,,,, amazing. It looks amazing. The story? Amazing. The characters? Amazing!!! There's all these little (amazing) details that just make for such a strong, compelling narrative. Literally everything about it is stellar. I've discovered something I call the Spiderverse paradox:
  1. Watch Into the Spiderverse
  2. It's so good you want to see it again
  3. Rewatch Into the Spiderverse
  4. Rewatching it has renewed your desire to see it again

It never ends. If I won free movie tickets tomorrow you can bet your ass I would absolutely be watching Spiderverse for the third time in the row. It needs to hit Netflix immediately. In fact hONESTLY,,, once it's up for purchase I might even buy it... maybe I can make that one of my birthday gifts. "Oh no, I don't want anything now, but once Spiderverse hits DVD, I will gladly accept that as a retroactive birthday gift."

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: Where are some unusual places you have been? Are there unusual places that you still want to go to?

My answer: In 2015, my mom and I flew to California and then rented a car to road trip east towards Las Vegas. The entirety of that area was pretty unusual to someone who grew up in South Florida tbh lmao We drove down a road that had a million little hills in pitch darkness. In Nevada, they had some kinda rule where grocery stores carded everyone if you're buying alcohol??? I literally had to sit in the car for my mom to buy wine sdfghjk We visited a ghost town called Calico! And this one place uhhh... Zyzzyx?? But it was like this weird abandoned place that used to be home to some kinda fountain of youth scam???? It was Wild. We also saw the world's largest thermometer and visited a place called "Alien Beef Jerky" which had a bunch of Alien themed stuff. Las Vegas was... Las Vegas I guess??? We also stopped by LA for a night and dude,,,, we hit LA traffic before even reaching LA. There were like,,,, donut tire marks on the highway???? The desert is so fuckin weird fghjffghjhg

Yikes...

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: Do you have any interesting stories about an old teacher? Did they ever do something crazy or unforgettable in front of the class?

My answer: [personal profile] casualbird's answer reminded me of the time that I was sitting in a college class for a subject I can't even remember now, and there was a bit of activity behind me, and when I looked behind me, a girl was sitting there with her head hanging back just... not moving at all. The guy next to her was trying to get her attention, but she wasn't responding. The teacher was super obnoxious and told the guy off, and like when the guy tried to say that something might've been wrong, the teacher just???? Idk I just remember he was super obnoxious and dismissive and kept trying to return to the lecture and completely ignore the fact that one of his students was passed out and unresponsive.

Finally, he got his head out of his ass long enough to think "oh maybe I should be concerned for the students literally paying to be here???" One of the students called paramedics and it turns out, the girl had recently been in a car accident and she'd had a seizure in class. Luckily, she was alright (though the guy who knew her tried to convince her to go to the hospital cause,,, yikes). I still can't believe a teacher would fucking act like that tho and show such blatant disregard for his students.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: How much work do you put into blogging? Do you just post and go? Do you have a flawless theme to maintain? Do you have to fiddle with html for every post?

My answer: Ugh... I can't live with myself if my theme is ugly... I look at my blogs so, so much I need them to be aesthetically pleasing dfghj It's all part of my brand and I can't ruin that with ugly, unreadable or basic themes ;;;;; I'm also definitely an html fiddler... at least on DW. Tumblr was easier in that html wasn't a big thing & I didn't post anything of real substance there anyway (I just tried to break up long text blocks and called it a day dfghjk). I definitely do like having the QotD posts that are pretty easy to just copy-paste, answer, and go! It's a bit of a relief from trying to post Things of Importance.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: Do you often ask people for help, or do you prefer handling things on your own?

My answer: #Team "I Don't Actually Know How to Ask For Help, No Actually Back Track, I Don't Know How To Figure Out When I Actually Need Help In The First Place And That Whole Combination With A Dash Of I Don't Know How To Talk To People Adds Up To A Whole Lot Of Overwhelming Myself Trying To Do Everything By Myself Then Blaming Myself When I Fail" 😎 the team name could use a little work, but at least it's honest?

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What kind of treasures did you find the last time you cleaned your space?

My answer: I don't actually want to answer this bc I don't have a good answer, but I will tell y'all about the time I lost my tablet pen & was so distraught I literally dreamed about it. It was this super, super vivid dream where I found my tablet pen under my bed in a very specific pencil case that I didn't even own. I was so relieved and happy until I woke up and realized my pen was still gone :,c

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What are you the most nostalgic for?

My answer: Not gonna lie, every so often I get really, really nostalgic for the height of Homestuck's popularity. There was just something about it that was so, so much fun. The sense of community... the way you could walk into a con in homestuck cosplay and immediately make friends. The updates... the update art, the crazy update closet cosplays... so much homestuck rping and silly art... just the sense of unity overall really. I miss just being so in sync and connected to everyone. Nowadays I'm mostly ridiculously behind & clinging to dying fandoms :(

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: It's a new year, tell me about how you're a new you.

My answer: Trick question, I'm not! Haha. There's a lot of things I'd like to change about myself, but I don't really see the new year as a time to wholly reinvent myself. I don't think I ever expect to not be... me. Each year I kinda just hope to be... successful I guess? I want to like... do things... memorable things that makes my time actually worthwhile and gives enough relevance to my life to want to keep living it.

I guess the more I think about it, the more I suppose I am kinda a new me? But only in that the me now is somewhat different than the me of January 1st, 2018. I suppose gradual changes have taken place over the course of a year, and the same will happen as I make my way through 2019. Idk. I'm pretty excited to use my question a day 5-year journal so I'll have like... actual tangible proof of myself changing over the years. I don't know where I'll be in 5 years, but it'll be interesting to look back and see where I was 5 years ago!q

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What are your resolutions for the new year? Are you good at keeping your new year's resolutions, or are they gone with the wind within the first week of january?

My answer: I dunno how much I really do resolutions in general, but I think I'm gonna shoot for a few this year!

Creative
  • Draw - 1 full drawing a month! I want to shoot for a totally filled 2019 Summary of Art.
  • Writing - 100 words a week. I'm not writing at all right now, so I want to set some kinda tiny goal to kick myself into writing something. It doesn't have to be good. I don't have to like it, but if I at least write something, I'll be pleased.
  • 2 finished knit projects. Not including any WIPs or frogged projects. This year we finish things!!

Other
  • Q&A a Day Journal! I got this for Christmas! It asks a simple question every day and makes for a really low-key journaling experience. I wanna keep up with that.
  • Get a job. I'm thinking within the first 2 weeks of Jan. Enough is enough and I need to rly start looking ;;

Mmmm... that's all I can think of! I want to set really low effort goals especially since I'm currently... not doing much of anything. You know what they say about an object at rest lol I wanna give myself the best chances at success instead of setting lofty goals I'm unlikely to even attempt. Here's hoping I'm successful this year, and here's wishing y'all a successful 2019 as well!

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What social media platforms have you quit? Why? (question submitted by [personal profile] fucktheg0ds)

My answer: The first one was facebook. It was boring and filled with people I didn't even like or care about, so it reall wasn't worth keeping up with. I've always wanted to use social media for fannish things, and Facebook's not really suited to that.

Currently, I'm actively trying to quit Tumblr. It's gone super downhill over the years, and it's been a while since my dashboard was full of stuff I actually wanted to see. After 7 years of watching this site steadily decline then take a nosedive, it's just not worth it for me to go about cleaning up my following list and seek out new content. I'd rather devote my time and effort to platforms I have more hope for.

Otherwise, I have a Twitter and Instagram but both platforms confuse and annoy me so I never use them dfghjjfghj

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: Do you prefer living in a city or a country environment? Which do you live in now?

My answer: Oh god, a city for sure. I hate being downtown, but living within like... a big city but outside of downtown is just *chef's finger kiss* quality living. At my last place in Miami, I was within walking distance of the mall, the library, a 24 hr convenience store, a McDonald's with a 24 hr lobby, and my local grocery store (also within walking distance) was open until midnight. Also within walking distance (and I'm talking like 10 min walk here) was the train which could take me all over the place for $2.50 (...okay, expensive, but I usually used my mom's free pass lol) including to downtown where I went to school and could go to museums and the main library and stuff. And btw that train came every 5 minutes during the day on weekdays and maybe every half hour on weekends.

Right now, I'm staying in a small city in Washington where the bus that I need to reach anything only comes once an hour and doesn't even run on Sundays.

I can't even imagine living completely in the country.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: Do you sleep in silence, or do you have to have background noise? Is there a reason for this? How about light? Does it have to be pitch black, or do you need at least a sliver of light to sleep?

My answer: Sound-wise, I can't sleep without ambient sound. A floor fan is my favorite (which I keep running even in winter >.>;) but things like AC/Heater or even say a spotify playlist emulating those things will work fine. Finding a good digital fan sound is tough though... So many of them sound like straight up static instead of the humm-whoosh that fans sound like irl.

I prefer to sleep in absolute darkness. Even things like the charging light of my phone have to be covered for me to sleep comfortably. However, I've been sharing a room with my mom for the past couple months, and she always stays up way too late on her too bright laptop :/ I know she hates having the fan on tho so I try not to complain about that light too much. Compromises and what have you.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What would the "vine compilation" of your lifetime look like?

My answer:I feel like my entire life has led up to this moment. Lmao jkjk but I'm like,,, vine obsessive almost. I'm constantly watching 30min-1hour long vine comps on youtube. *cracks fingers* So the vine compilation of my lifetime!

Warning: Vids 1,5, and 11 contain screaming.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What is the most interesting coincidence or series of coincidences that you've experienced? Do you think it was a coincidence, or did you see it as something more?

My answer: Well, one time when I was in 4th or 5th grade, I missed the bus to school and was terrified of telling my mom. We had biked to school together before and I saw the route countless times on the bus, so I thought "it's okay, I'll walk." We lived in a gated community right off of a major street, and I got about as far as the end of that street (right at the intersection just before a huge bridge) when I realized I didn't know the way at all.

As I was debating whether to go straight or turn, I suddenly heard someone call me. Stopped at the red light was a mom driving her daughter to school. They apparently knew me even though I didn't recognize them at all (though I'm very bad at recognizing/remembering people), and the mom offered to give me a ride to school. I got to school safe and sound with no issue.I don't know how much of a coincidence it was, but it was definitely really lucky. I could've gotten myself really lost or picked up by someone with no good intentions.

[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What is your relationship with technology? Do you keep up with the latest and greatest, or have you stuck with the older stuff you bought years ago as long as it still works?

My answer: Well, I'm pretty poor, but my mom's tech-oriented and indulgent, so I think that factors into my answer? but I feel like I'm somewhere in between. I'm definitely drawn to new tech, but its features really have to outweigh the cost. Even so, I usually don't get the "latest" stuff unless it's been out for a year or so. That said, I also get sentimental and really attached to my stuff. I like to name my tech lmao. I think my 7th Gen ipod nano is the greatest thing! I don't really worry about new computers/tablets/phones unless my current one starts having issues... altho sorry @ all my current tech but I would drop it all in a heartbeat for a Surface Pro... Gooooddddd I want one of those so bad!!!

Video Games suck because you have to stay updated if you want to play new games... I'm still super pissed at Nintendo for not making the Switch backwards compatible with the 3ds, but I still want one... I wanna play Smash Ultimate and Fire Emblem: Three Houses ;;;
coyoteclaw11: Haru looking Annoyed (Default)
[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What totally mundane, harmless thing scared you the most as a child?

My answer: I was terrified of walking in the dark, especially outside. This kind of tied into my fear of snakes because I always imagined every dark mass on the ground was a snake, even if they were just clothes on my bedroom floor (you'd think that'd encourage me clean my room more lol). One time, I was playing with the rake outside and left it by the side of the house. It was night by the time my mom found out, and she sent me out to get it. I was so scared, I just stood in one place sobbing until she let me come back inside.
