questionoftheday asks: What totally mundane, harmless thing scared you the most as a child?

My answer: I was terrified of walking in the dark, especially outside. This kind of tied into my fear of snakes because I always imagined every dark mass on the ground was a snake, even if they were just clothes on my bedroom floor (you'd think that'd encourage me clean my room more lol). One time, I was playing with the rake outside and left it by the side of the house. It was night by the time my mom found out, and she sent me out to get it. I was so scared, I just stood in one place sobbing until she let me come back inside.

As a kid my parents let me watch Jaws and I was then terrified of swimming in pools by myself because somehow I thought a shark would come and eat me. Also I was terrified of sharks for the longest time because of that, thanks parents.

Haha aww. Man, the movie Jaws did a lot of damage for a lot of people. I've never actually seen the movie! In elementary school I had a brief obsession with sharks, so I wonder if it would've affected me as much... hmm
