Prompt 2: Fannish Identity

What does your username mean?

Very simply it's my warrior cat-sona's name (Coyoteclaw) + 11 because when I was 11 my email was hacked, so I had to make a new one. It worked out though since while Coyoteclaw is occasionally taken, I am the one and only Coyoteclaw11....... except on Goatlings. For some reason there's a Coyoteclaw11 on Goatlings who is not me >:o

How is it pronounced?

Kai-yoh-tee-claw eleven

Altho if I'm going by my nickname, Coyo, that one's pronounced more like yo-yo with a K. Speaking of... isn't it funny how there's so many ways to pronounce coyote? Koh-yoh-teh, Kai-yoh-tee, Kai-yoht... I like the one I use tho.

What's your origin story?

It allll started in the days of IMVU, dolldivine, the Meerkat Manor online multiplayer game, and a Harry Potter MMO... and then it ended. Then it began again in the days of Warrior Cat AMVs and Independent Warrior Cat forum roleplays. Thus, Coyoteclaw11 was born. One of the oldest accounts I have is my Deviantart, which was created in 2009. As far as I'm concerned, I didn't really exist before then.

Is it fannish?

Most definitely. Warrior Cats was one of my Big Fandoms, preceded only by Harry Potter and depending on your definition, Meerkat Manor. (Little 9 year old me was hella obsessed with Meerkat Manor... I made my own fan mob and LARPed in my backyard. Only thing is I was obsessed in a very solo manner. I didn't know any other fans :c)

bUT to get back on topic yup. Warrior Cats has this sort of compound naming system that develops as the cat grows up and/or changes their role in the clan. Fireheart, Cinderpaw, Crowfeather, and Spottedleaf are all examples of warrior cat names. When I was 10, I decided I would be Coyoteclaw, a silver tabby she-cat with blue eyes.

What is your default icon about?

Technically my current default icon is the Yuri on Ice "Team Ice Ice Baby" icon for SportsFest2019 so that I wouldn't have to worry about changing my icon every time I posted for the event (...which has been far fewer times than I was hoping :( ) BUT corner haru is my MAIN main icon

Does it have personal meaning?

Haruka Nanase is such a comfort character for me dfghj He's really reserved, kinda stand-offish, hard to read... etc. etc. Point is I see a lot of myself in him? And I really like him and also I've loved characters with black hair, blue eyes, and hair in their faces since the dawn of time so it's honestly like he was made 100% with my tastes in mind dfghjhfdfgh

Why did you choose it?

To begin with, this icon is very Blue which I like a lot 10/10. Honestly tho this is such a nice edit?? Everything about it is so soft and blue and pretty and Haru is characteristically unamused. I love it so much,,,

What is it from?

Free! is first of all really great and amazing so let's get that on the table asap. It's an anime about competitive swimming! And also friendship! And also growing up and facing your future and having to decide whether you're going to turn your talents into a career or protect the very thing that brings you the most joy in the world from turning into work. At the same time it's also kinda fanservicey (boys + pool = what you'd expect) and rly is made to suit certain tastes. I know it's not for everyone, so I wouldn't rly rec it wholeheartedly, but it sure means the world and then some to me.

What does "fannish identity" mean to you?

Fannish identity to me ended up as something of an idealized version of myself. My fannish identity is just wholly consumed in my passions without being weighed down by anything I've done or said or experienced irl. It's just me, enjoying my favorite things and creating and consuming content for them. You don't even need to really interact with others (which, although it can be fun to, social interaction is one of my weak points). I can just... be. And enjoy. And create.

TL;DR explanation if what I haven’t seen Free! is I had no internet for a long rime and then once I did, I never made it back to fandom until recently.

I just saw Yuri!!! because of a sunshine_challenge rec and it’s obvious I’ve missed some good stuff during my hiatus.
